Apocalyptic Films and Books that Inspire Me

All right, so this blog isn’t exactly going to blow your mind, but I just thought I’d share some of my “apocalyptic” inspirational materials. Incidentally, I’ve excluded zombie movies from the list, since they give me nightmares, but otherwise, here are some things to get you thinking “end of the world.”

  • The Road
  • Terminator (all of them)
  • Escape from L.A. (or New York – your choice)
  • Firefly the TV series (and Serenity)
  • Idiocracy
  • Reign of Fire
  • Wall-E
  • V for Vendetta
  • The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

  • The Road by Cormac McCarthy
  • End Time Visions: The Road to Armageddon by Richard Abanes
  • Everyday Apocalypse by David Dark

Okay, this is a pretty short list – so what are your suggestions? I’m always looking for great ideas of music to inspire me while writing “in” a post-apocalyptic world, and likewise for books and movies. Please, leave your comments and your suggestions!
